How it all started

Territories

Clan Morrison is a Highland clan with roots in the Outer Hebrides, particularly on the Isle of Lewis and Harris. Traditionally, they served as hereditary brieves (judges) in the region, known for their legal wisdom and leadership in island society. Another branch of Morrisons settled in Sutherland and Caithness, likely of Norse-Gaelic origin. Though not large in numbers, the clan played an important role in Hebridean governance and cultural preservation.

Clan Chief

The current Chief of Clan Morrison is Alasdair Morrison of Ruchdi, recognized by the Lord Lyon. The clan crest features a hand holding a dagger, and the motto “Teaghlach Phabbay” (Family of Pabbay) honors their island roots. Today, Clan Morrison maintains strong connections worldwide through active clan societies and heritage celebrations.
