About the Halkerston Clan Tartan
The Scottish Register of Tartans records Hackston Green stripe or Halkerston with STA and STWR reference 907. The tartan is dated to 1746 and was recorded before the launch of the modern Scottish Register of Tartans.
The Register notes that the tartan came from D.C. Dalgliesh and Scottish Tartans Society files. It was seen in a portrait of Helenus Hackston of that Ilk, of Rathillet, Fife, painted soon after the Jacobite rising of 1745. A related count also exists where the green line is replaced with black.
