Clan Chisholm rose to prominence in the rugged and remote region of Strathglass in the Highlands of Scotland. Originally of Norman descent, the Chisholms established deep Highland roots by the 14th century through strategic marriage and land acquisition. Their lands included glens, forests, and rivers stretching through Inverness-shire, offering both natural defense and isolation. The current chief of Clan Chisholm is Andrew Francis Hamish Chisholm of Chisholm. The historic seat of the clan was Erchless Castle, a fortified tower house near Struy that dates back to the 15th century.
