About the Forrester Tartan
Clan Forrester is an old Lowland clan whose name comes from the ancient office of guardian of the royal forest — the keeper of the king's woodlands — reflected in the three hunting horns of the clan arms. Seated at Corstorphine near Edinburgh and at Torwood in Stirlingshire, the Forresters rose high in the service of the crown. An armigerous clan today, with the Earl of Verulam as its patron, the Forresters have their own distinctive tartan.

Forrester Clan Heritage
Sir Adam Forrester, first of Corstorphine, is regarded as the founder of the clan — a wealthy merchant who became Provost of Edinburgh, Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland and Deputy Chamberlain, and who acquired the estate of Corstorphine in 1376. His son Sir John Forrester also held the Great Seal and served as Chamberlain of Scotland and Master of the Household to James I. Three of the chiefs lie in effigy in the Collegiate Church of Corstorphine.
Sir James, the seventh chief, fell at the disastrous Battle of Pinkie in 1547, and in 1633 Sir George Forrester was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia and Lord Forrester of Corstorphine. The Forresters of Garden in Stirlingshire were virtually hereditary Provosts of Stirling, eight of them holding that office. In time the male line failed and the honours passed through heiresses to the Earls of Verulam. The crest is a hound's head, and the motto Blaw Hunter Blaw Thy Horn.
