Dunnottar Castle, perched dramatically on sea cliffs near Stonehaven, served as the historic stronghold of Clan Keith— one of the most powerful and honored families in medieval and early modern Scotland. The Keiths were granted the hereditary title of Great Marischal of Scotland, a position that placed them at the center of royal ceremonies and battlefield command.
